AIDAN KELSEY DETTE

Hey, My name is Aidan

I am a feminist. I am 20 years old and busy studying towards Bachelor of Arts at UCT, majoring in Gender Studies and History

I spent 5 years at Rustenburg G' High School

My Ethnic background labels me as a Cape Malay Coloured. I am proud of my heritage.

However, I have been constantly underestimated. This could be due to what my peers describe as a 'gham' accent.

In my mind, Feminism is a movement that aims to achieve gender equality. But it appears that the effects of Feminism are not as prospective as it would seem. So how do we define equality? There needs to be a clear definition of what kind of equality we want to achieve.

I believe labels garnered from gender inequality are poisonous

We should achieve feminism through celebration and not by oppressing the Queens around us

The reason gender stereotypes exist is not a good enough excuse

I will not be defined by my sex . OR societies expectations which consequent gender norms

I would prefer to embrace my unique beauty & choose my own gender. I am not a simulation for your gender binary

I am my own woman

My family environment encounters conflict, as do most families. However I always try to remind my myself that building resentment to those around me will only harm myself. I find most of the conflict occurs when one ignores their elders.

My life motto is; Do Better. I am not defined by your image of who I should be.

I am my own person, inside out. And I love that

Because of this lifestyle, I understand I should do what makes me happy, regardless of the expectations others place on me

I want people to remember me for my personality, not my accomplishments.

I am a Loud, Vibrant Woman.

Should Women have body hair?

You do you Boo. If it work

works, embrace it!

Describe yourself using one word

A Realist

Do you believe in Love at first site

No. That's lust, Because you base your opinion on visual appearances. Good looks does not make a great personality.
